A little bit about me & Vom Hause Gruver Rottweilers, LLC
My history in dogs (well the last 35 years or so)
I went through my first obedience class with Ramie a Doberman Pincher at the age of twelve, with Bill Kolher (the trainer of animals for Walt Disney movies), I still have that first place trophy in my office. It was a lot of harsh correction and force training way back then. My parents had Doberman Pinchers for about ten years before I moved out on my own, and I had Dobie's for about five years after that. When I started training SchutzHund with my first Rottweiler "Brutus" back in 1989. It was like learning obedience all over again. This time everything was positive motivation of which I like that course of training a lot better (you and the dog enjoy it much more)! I received Brutus at 8 weeks old, and about 4 months started to take him to a local SchutzHund Club for socialization (which is of the ut most importance with every dog)! He was a very hard dog, and me being a novice at SchutzHund training was not a fun combination. Looking back though I learned so much from training him, I had to try many different ideas, some worked and some didn't. I kept at it though and put a BH (traffic dog) on him first, then a SchutzHund I, then a II then a III the highest level in SchutzHund. SchutzHund has three Phases to it, first is tracking, then the second is obedience, and third is bite work.
Bite work your thinking.... hummm
This is the dogs (and mine) favorite part of SchutzHund. The dogs truly enjoy it! You have a helper (the guy that wears the bite sleeve), The dog can only bite the sleeve, they do a hold & bark, and a courage test, escape, and escort. This is just part of it, the dog must be under control at all times. If you ever get a chance to go to a SchutzHund trial do it! It takes hundreds of hours of training to get to the point of trialing.
I also put a BST (Breed Suitability Test) on Brutus, this is the same as the ADRK (German Rottweiler Clubs) ZTP. Brutus was the first Rottweiler to obtain an AD (endurance dog) with Golden State SchutzHund Club (a German Shepherd club) in the counties of San Bernardino & Riverside! I also Showed him in AKC, and some FCI shows in which he was a Mexican Champion, and International Champion Pointed. He also obtained his Mexican T.T. Temperament Test. I competed with him in Protection tournaments too. Most of my Training in SchutzHund started at Kishkakon SchutzHund club in Woodcrest Ca.. I was a member, then a helper (went to a couple of helper seminars), Then trainer director, Vice President, then President over a nine year period. I was also a member helper at Golden State SchutzHund club for a couple of years. I was a member of the ARV, USA (United SchutzHund Clubs of America). a member of DVG (Deutscher Verband Der Gerbrauchshundsportvereine). I first joined the USRC (United States Rottweiler Club) back in 1990, and I'm a member today. My kennel is registered with the USRC as KR-94, some of my dogs have been registered too. I was the Regional Director of the South West for the USRC for three years (from March 1996 till March 1999).
Vom Hause Gruver Rottweilers History
My first Rottweiler was Brutus (as stated above with our accomplishments) back in 1989. My first female Rottweiler that would be the foundation for my kennel line was a Doc Von Der Teufelsbrucke daughter named Quinta Von Der Silberdistel. Quinta was shown 19 times under 14 different Rottweiler judges in the USRC & ARV shows. Quinta received a V-Rating (A rating of excellent which is the best you can do) every time. She also placed in the top 4 spots 16 out of the 19 times. Quinta was V-1 at the Ottawa Valley Rottweiler Club under the ADRK's (Allgemeiner Deutscher Rottweiler Klub) Head Kormister Willi Hedtke. Out of Quinta came Ayla Vom Gruver Haus, she was our first generation kennel line, then out of Ayla came Dunja Vom Gruver Haus, she is our second generation female. Now we have Jazzy, Jessy, and Jasmine Vom Gruver Hause to make our third generation kennel lines. Up and coming is Pera Vom Hause Gruver to make our fourth Generation female. We also have the only pink papered Multi titled VPG III, and IPO III German import in this country! Zecke Vom Hause Anin. Zecke has an excellent temperament, correct drive, and is a beautiful female Rottweiler. Zecke has the best pedigrees you could ask for. Over the last almost twenty years there has been times when I wish I could of done more showing & training with my dogs, but because of work, family, and other constraints (that make up life) that has not always been possible, but one thing I have never strayed from has been my breeding program. when I have had my dogs bred, it has always been to improve the breed and my kennel lines. It takes a long time to know what works and what doesn't, and the knowledge to know the difference! Over the years I have seen a lot of people and clubs come and go, and by the grace of God I'm still here, and hopefully for the next twenty plus years.
